Shem Mwaura, the founder and CEO of Pwani Feeds, is a Kenyan entrepreneur from the Thika region in Kenya. Founded in 2002, Pwani processes and sells animal feeds and eggs. Pwani’s approach is distinct in that the company purchases eggs directly from farmers’ own residences i.e. farm gate delivery. The company started at the Coast region where it deploys 9 depots, in addition to 3 depots in the Central region, from where it sells feeds and the eggs collected from farmers. At present Pwani services 42 collection routes and has a customer base of over 5,500 poultry farmers. The yearly turnover of Pwani Feeds Limited ranges from EUR 7,5 Mio to EUR 12,5 Mio.
Pwani strongly believes in building its farmer base to feed the nation and consequently create positive socio-economic impact in terms of lowering the cost of food in Kenya - which will increase accessibility to all. The company strives to ensure it is enriching the production of any farmer served, and as such aside from feeds supply; all its farmers have access to free extension services as well as farmer seminars to enhance their animal production knowledge. This is a service offered by Pwani across the board to all its farmers at no cost.
With your support, Pwani intends to further expand its business and outreach to an enlarged farmer base.
