Summary
Wholesome fresh bakery started trading in 2015 as an industrial plant bakery that provides bread for informal trade. With 3 types of bread ranging from Super white, Super brown and Milk bread. The business started when 3 friends saw a gap in the market for a supply of bread in the less advantaged areas. When the business started in 2015, it started with very minimal resources. Today, the company has a huge industrial plant bakery in Parow with over 300 unskilled employees. It is Wholesome fresh bakery’s vision to care about the community by being actively involved in sport, cultural, education and other community building activities throughout the years as they believe it encourages Wholesome Living.
Wholesome bakery requested funds from Lulaland because they were approaching their peak season and wanted to purchase raw materials to make enough bread to carry them over the festive season. In addition, they also wanted to upgrade their machinery to speed up the manufacturing process of making bread as the demand for their product was tremendous.

Impact
More than 40% of SMEs in Africa mention the lack of financing as the major factor limiting their growth. To help overcome this challenge, Lulalend offers access to funding to SMEs in South Africa by delivering working capital within 24 hours through their automated online platform.
Easy access to working capital increases productivity and job creation, both necessary conditions to reduce poverty. A formal job creates impact on income and enables regularity of wages, allowing a family to plan for the future, save money, and improve access to credit, housing, and children’s education. It can lift unskilled workers out of poverty and allow skilled workers to enter the middle class. Therefore financing SMEs with growth potential is one of the key ingredients for inclusive growth.
