      Summary

C&G Fine Art started 15 years ago as a small family business, initially providing framing services to local artists. Nowadays, the business has expanded to generate jobs to 30 employees and they specialize in customized designing and manufacturing of a broad spectrum of products. Ranging from fine art to mirrors. Everything is manufactured in-house, from the conceptualization through to installation. The majority of their labor is generic and are internally trained to improve their skills.

In the manufacturing industry you often sit in between projects with this lull, cash flow can be a huge challenge. The business has the turnover and capacity, but struggles to get from month to month and therefore needs funding to continue their production. Mr. De Wet is very much involved in his staff and is therefore very passionate about creating jobs and providing internal skills development. Currently they are helping one of their staff members to get an accounting degree, so these skills could be used internally to help run the business.

      Impact

More than 40% of SMEs in Africa mention the lack of financing as the major factor limiting their growth. To help overcome this challenge, Lulalend offers access to funding to SMEs in South Africa by delivering working capital within 24 hours through their automated online platform.

Easy access to working capital increases productivity and job creation, both necessary conditions to reduce poverty. A formal job creates impact on income and enables regularity of wages, allowing a family to plan for the future, save money, and improve access to credit, housing, and children’s education. It can lift unskilled workers out of poverty and allow skilled workers to enter the middle class. Therefore financing SMEs with growth potential is one of the key ingredients for inclusive growth.
