The project
Solar technologies are becoming a household name in Maa community. Solar wave is unstoppable, thanks to many success stories that give impetus to the wave each day.
To Racheal Kesene Masiaine resident of Isitet, Solar lighting is a ready replacement to expensive, risky and ineffective kerosene powered light. With a young family of 4 children and a husband who feeds the community with the word of God, Solar lighting in her homestead is a new dawn.
As dusk approaches, Racheal with her husband are busy guiding their cows to the shades for milking. This is their current source of income.
The neighbours start streaming in every day from 6pm for a spiritual fellowship. This fellowship is cumbersome and risky with current insufficient kerosene powered lamps.
Racheal’s dream comes true with Solar Technologies trending in the market that comprise 4 lamps, 24-inch digital TV, A Solar Panel, a battery, Radio, Torch, Solar Controller, and a Phone Charger. Current milk sales can repay a loan of USD 883.43 for 24 months.
To the family, this means abundant, clean light for every household activity. It means an added revenue stream from phone charging, more entertainment and effective evening fellowship. Finally, it means more time (early mornings and after dusk) to tend cows for increased milk production and income to the family.
With abundant light, comes abundant life. Solar means abundance to Racheal and she is ready to invest from her meagre income.

Impact
BnF focuses on sustainable energy projects in rural Kenya, offering households a 12-month payment plan to purchase a solar home system. The system enables clients to generate sufficient energy to power many basic necessities such as lights, radios, televisions, and other essential appliances. Solar home systems reduce reliance on polluting and health-threatening fuels such as kerosene, firewood, and coal for families' lighting and cooking needs.
Electricity opens new economic opportunities for families, enabling household incomes to grow progressively. It provides access to information and entertainment, allowing the children to spend time studying in the evenings and empowering women to engage more in household and local-level decision-making. It stands to reason that entire rural communities' livelihoods benefit from access to clean energy as their productivity, efficiency, and health prospers.
