The project
A young bubbly mother of three; Lordivila Adhiambo from Busia County, Buoyo Village is an epitome of strength, determination and resilience.
The norm in the village is that many young women stay at home and wait for their husbands to fend for families. Adhaimbo has defied the norm and through her hard work, she runs a restaurant that compliments meagre family income.
Typically, most households in the rural areas rely on kerosene for home lighting. Adhiambo is forced to close her restaurant early before dark locking out most customers. Many households in her neighborhood trek for long hours to get their phones charged or watch TV.
Adhiambo has done adequate research and is comfortable from her small savings to acquire a five in one set of Solar Home lighting System comprising a 55watts panel, 15Ah battery hub, four LED bulbs, a phone charging kit (that can charge various phones), and a 19inch color TV. The system goes at credit price of USD 890. From her savings and meagre income, the family can comfortably pay USD 50 per month.
This, to Adhiambo ‘s family and community is a new dawn. The family shall enjoy unlimited access to lighting, the restaurant shall be lit for late evening business, customers and community members shall charge their phones as well as watch TV from the restaurant. Adhiambo shall also create employment for 3 more people.

Impact
BnF focuses on sustainable energy projects in rural Kenya, offering households a 12-month payment plan to purchase a solar home system. The system enables clients to generate sufficient energy to power many basic necessities such as lights, radios, televisions, and other essential appliances. Solar home systems reduce reliance on polluting and health-threatening fuels such as kerosene, firewood, and coal for families' lighting and cooking needs.
Electricity opens new economic opportunities for families, enabling household incomes to grow progressively. It provides access to information and entertainment, allowing the children to spend time studying in the evenings and empowering women to engage more in household and local-level decision-making. It stands to reason that entire rural communities' livelihoods benefit from access to clean energy as their productivity, efficiency, and health prospers.
