Summary
Jacton has an incredible new year resolution and Solar Home lighting System is at the core of it…`New year, improved lifestyle, better income for my family’, he proudly said. With a growing young family of six school going children, life has been unbearable for them once dusk sets in. His wife who is a village tailor in Buyende, is forced to close her shop lest petty thieves steal from her scantly stocked shop.
Solar lighting is the solution that Jacton has been waiting for despite many promises and efforts by the government to expand energy access in the rural Busia. New approaches to energy financing are welcome by the County Government so as to attain 2030 Vison of 100% rural electrification.
Households are adopting the most famous 6 pack Solar Home Lighting System that comes with 4 bulbs, 55 watts solar panel, 15AH battery, 24-inch flat screen, a radio and a torch. This pack is revolutionary to a family that has relied on kerosene lamps denying them entertainment and more hours for productive use after dusk.

Impact
BnF focuses on sustainable energy projects in rural Kenya, offering households a 12-month payment plan to purchase a solar home system. The system enables clients to generate sufficient energy to power many basic necessities such as lights, radios, televisions, and other essential appliances. Solar home systems reduce reliance on polluting and health-threatening fuels such as kerosene, firewood, and coal for families' lighting and cooking needs.
Electricity opens new economic opportunities for families, enabling household incomes to grow progressively. It provides access to information and entertainment, allowing the children to spend time studying in the evenings and empowering women to engage more in household and local-level decision-making. It stands to reason that entire rural communities' livelihoods benefit from access to clean energy as their productivity, efficiency, and health prospers.
