      Le projet

Maa Community continue to embrace Solar Technologies that are coming with features that meet real needs of households. Paranoi Natana, a young mother of five children lives in Olopito village that is known for wheat farming in Maa Community. Her husband trades in livestock to compliment family income.

At dusk, her homestead is usually dark with small rays of light from kerosene lamp escaping through tiny windows of her two roomed semi- permanent house. Her children, though school going, are forced to retire to bed early. No studies go on due to poor light and incessant respiratory health attacks from paraffin emissions.

Solar technologies wave has moved fast in the community and in the neighbourhood, as in the attached photo, able families are adopting solar technologies in a big way.

Paranoi with her husband have selected solar package comprising 4 lamps, a digital TV, Radio, a torch, solar controller, a phone charger.

With this, the family shall have unlimited access to clean lighting which is a real dream come true for the children. Not only that, there shall be unlimited entertainment from radio and TV. Mr Natana shall use the torch for his business when dusk sets in.

Paranoi is excited too about the phone charger from which she shall make an additional income and employ one more person to run phone charging business.

      Impact

BnF focuses on sustainable energy projects in rural Kenya, offering households a 12-month payment plan to purchase a solar home system. The system enables clients to generate sufficient energy to power many basic necessities such as lights, radios, televisions, and other essential appliances. Solar home systems reduce reliance on polluting and health-threatening fuels such as kerosene, firewood, and coal for families' lighting and cooking needs.

Electricity opens new economic opportunities for families, enabling household incomes to grow progressively. It provides access to information and entertainment, allowing the children to spend time studying in the evenings and empowering women to engage more in household and local-level decision-making. It stands to reason that entire rural communities' livelihoods benefit from access to clean energy as their productivity, efficiency, and health prospers.
