Marites Bas from Los Baños, Laguna is a widow with six kids. Buko pie making is a family business and it is where she was exposed and trained. In year 2000, Marites started her own buko pie making business and named it Marites n Arjay Buko Pie. Buko pies are distributed thru her vendors, to Los Baños and nearby towns. Marites employs out of school youth and senior citizens and they are provided with free meals and accommodation, aside from their compensation.
Lendahand together with its partner NPFC, will help Marites Bas acquire working capital to expand her business operations by buying raw materials to boost its production.
