Five Minutes With Adriaan
Geschreven door Femke Rutgers op 9 november 2020
Today’s “Five Minutes With” series interview Adriaan, who gave up the sunny grounds and dark basements studying experimental physics at the California Institute of Technology to join Lendahand in the middle of the pandemic.
Apart from working on data, technology, and investments at Lendahand, he enjoys rock climbing.
Name: Adriaan Schiphorst
Role: Investment Analyst
What does your typical workday look like?
I've been working at Lendahand for a few months now, and I’m happy to report that I've not had a typical working day yet. On a nontypical day, I might have a call with our partners across the world to check what's happening on the ground. Afterward, I help out with the due diligence of a new deal for our investors or search for ways to scale the company while reducing growing pains.
What is the last time you lent somebody a hand?
The global pandemic has not made it easy for starters to find a job. I try to help locally by assisting friends and close contacts with their job hunt, and globally by providing new job opportunities in emerging markets.
How do you impact the lives of others on a daily basis?
I continuously collect karma by turning forgotten bike lights off. Winter is coming, so I'm aiming for lots of karma coming in.
What are the hands-on things people can do to empower others?
Share the moments you enjoy. Invite others when you go relaxing, do something new or exercise. You'll soon see you’re literally empowering others.
What’s a crowdfunding project that still inspires you?
I'm very excited about the onboarding of a new partner that I worked on the last months. I think the partnership will show the growth Lendahand has made in the last few years, and I think it's exciting to enter new markets.
More to come..
