Being an elder of Kivaani village, Monica has attracted many people who look for her guidance, especially on topics touching on community growth. Monica always wanted to see her visitors, also tourists, comfortable; however she incurred a heavy cost of running a generator that was the source of power for lighting 12 rooms, 2 security lights and powering TV just to watch the news every day. The heavy cost of running a generator, the smoke coming from it, noise and risk of handling petrol is enormous. I used to spend 6,000Ksh on petrol per month simply to illuminate the rooms and watch TV for two hours i.e. from 7pm to 9pm, and then we switched off the generator to save some fuel to be used later."

"Today am using the solar product and the cost that I applied to have now gives way to other activities and am very happy meeting Sun Transfer. Am now talking to the villagers about benefit of solar technology and how it is transforming life. Monica is already extending the house to have more rooms and soon she is planning to buy another solar unit for the new suite.

Together with 10 other villagers, Monica is requesting for a loan for new solar panels. Local partner BNF and Lendahand will provide the loan to the group of 11. Sun Transfer is the manufacturer of the solar panels.
