Juvy Laput is a forty (40) year old mother of two (2) children and a registered nurse. She worked at Claveria Clinic in Masbate as a midwife for six (6) months and went to Manila as a private midwife for two (2) years. Inday, as she is known by her friends, started Jasper Stone Supply which is named after her eldest son in 2001 with her father-in-law supplying the pebbles and started on a consignment basis with other supplyers (suppliers). Jasper Stone Supply manufactures and supplies stone and pebbles and do contract landscaping to area in Iloilo, Tacloban, Olongapo, Leyte and National Capitol Region (NCR.) The business which has been in operation for 13 years is employing eleven (11) male and four (4) female workers ,who are high school graduates. They were trained on landscaping by her husband. The employees are paid monthly wages with free board, lodging and utilities such as water and electricity. For each landscaping contract,they receive an additional five hundred pesos (Php 500) per day. One (1)employee has been with the business since the start of the business. She is planning and hoping for steady flow of contracts in landscaping so she can extend help to her town-mates in Masbate by giving them work. Lend a Hand partner's NPFC is helping Jaspar Stone Supply by providing the needed additional working capital to boost the production and support for the incoming orders and contract landscaping.
