Note: this type of loan involves risks. Factoring is still in its infancy in Africa and the track record of such products is therefore limited. 

Credit risk is hedged through a combination of pledged invoices, credit guarantees and a 20% deposit, which the client builds up with Financial Access over a period of twelve months.

NUCAFE is an umbrella association of coffee farmers in Uganda which was founded in 2003.  Over the years, it has grown and evolved as a vibrant private sector led farmer organization formed to serve and position farmers in the liberalized coffee value chain in Uganda.  Its principal activities include the promotion of good governance & management for its member organization/enterprises, providing certification and verification services, and initiating production, productivity and quality enhancement programmes.

The company operates in more than 20 coffee producing districts in Uganda. It has a membership of 198 Farmers’ Associations and Cooperatives, covering 200,000 farming families and reaching over 1 million individual smallholder farmers. Turnover is around USD 1 Mio.

NUCAFE also provides material support to its members in the form of farming equipment, access to financial services, marketing and exporting of the coffee produced by the members. Furthermore, the company directly trades in coffee buying and exporting. 

NUCAFE coffees are high quality coffees that are responsibly grown, ethically processed and traded. These cover both green beans and roasted coffees.
