Global demand for fair and high-quality coffee is growing. This creates opportunities for smallholder coffee farmers in Peru to gain more stable incomes.
M&V Rivas works directly with cooperatives of small-scale coffee farmers in Peru. The company processes, aggregates, and sells their coffee to international buyers. This creates a transparent and fair value chain. Farmers receive a fair price and do not have to deal with intermediaries or export processes. This allows them to fully focus on the quality of their coffee.
During the harvest season, additional working capital is needed to purchase sufficient volumes of coffee. With this loan, M&V Rivas can source more coffee and reach more farmers. This leads to more stable incomes for families and strengthens a more sustainable coffee value chain.
How does this guaranteed investment work?
With the guarantee from Fair Capital, you invest in sustainable, direct projects through Lendahand. Fair Capital, based in Switzerland, provides financing and advisory services to companies in sustainable agriculture and has extensive experience assessing both the social impact and credit risk of agricultural projects.
If M&V Rivas cannot meet its payment obligations, Fair Capital fully compensates Lendahand investors for the nominal investment plus interest, with the exception of currency exchange risk between USD and EUR. Note: investing always carries risks. Read the terms here.

M&V Rivas is guaranteed by Fair Capital, covering both your investment and the interest, with the exception of currency exchange risk.
- Interest rate: 6% per year
- Maturity: 9 months. You will receive your notional payment at the end of the maturity. You will receive an interest payment in month 3, 6, and month 9.
- Currency: US dollar. Please note that although you invest in euros, the loan is denominated in dollars. This means there is a risk of exchange rate fluctuations between the US dollar and the euro. Visit our currency risk page for more information.
