OXUS Kyrgyzstan is a licensed microfinance institution operating across Kyrgyzstan. It is regulated by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic and is part of the OXUS Group, which also operates in Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Founded in 2006, it grew out of a rural microfinance programme launched in 2003 by ACTED, an international humanitarian and development organisation.

With nearly two decades of experience, OXUS Kyrgyzstan serves around 10,000 to 11,000 active borrowers through six branches and eight representative offices across the country. It focuses on people with limited access to traditional banking services, including smallholder farmers, rural households, women entrepreneurs, and micro and small business owners. Around 69% of its clients live in rural areas and 54% are women.

OXUS Kyrgyzstan goes beyond providing finance by promoting responsible lending and positive social impact. It assesses environmental and social risks as part of its lending process, offers financial literacy training, and has earned Gold-level Client Protection Certification following an independent assessment against internationally recognised standards. This demonstrates its strong commitment to responsible lending and the fair treatment of borrowers.

Its mission is to provide responsible financial services to low-income and underserved people, enabling them to strengthen their businesses, build financial resilience, and improve their livelihoods.

It borders Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the south, and China to the east. Bishkek is both its capital and largest city. Kyrgyzstan is an emerging economy that has recorded strong growth in recent years. Its economy expanded by an estimated 11.1% in 2025, supported by private consumption, investment, construction, industry, and trade. The country remains dependent on remittances, regional trade, and natural resources, particularly gold.
