SPBD Tonga 15
Nafe works every day on her farm in the island nation of Tonga, where she grows vanilla, papaya, and kava root. Thanks to a loan from SPBD Tonga, she was able to expand her business and build a home for her family. Now, she hopes to grow further and create job opportunities for other women in her community, helping them achieve economic independence.

The project
Every morning, Nafe wakes up early to work alongside her husband on their farm. They cultivate crops such as vanilla, papaya, and kava root. With the support of a loan from SPBD Tonga, the family was able to purchase additional land and increase their vanilla production. Today, they export their products to New Zealand. The extra income has allowed them to make a dream come true: completing their own home and creating a comfortable place for their family.
In the future, Nafe hopes to expand her activities even further. By doing so, she wants to provide employment opportunities for other women in he community. For women in Tonga, it is often difficult to become financially independent and earn their own income.
Because it is nearly impossible for women in Tonga to obtain a traditional bank loan, SPBD Tonga offers an alternative. Through a group loan, each woman receives her own credit, while the group collectively guarantees repayment. This way, they can invest in their future without needing collateral, giving them a fair chance to build a better life.
With your investment, 75 entrepreneurs, just like Nafe, can expand their businesses and create positive change within their communities.
