Furuz 11
Microfinance institution Furuz supports small-scale entrepreneurs in Tajikistan, including Ikromov. With his loan, he purchased a small tractor, making the work on his land lighter and increasing production. The higher yields provide greater financial stability for his family.

The project
Farmer Ikromov runs a farm with his family, passed down through generations. Every day, they work hard to produce enough grain. With the microloan from Furuz, he invested in a tractor that not only reduces the physical workload but also boosts output. This leads to additional income and contributes to food security in his region.
Furuz reaches more than 3,500 micro-entrepreneurs in Tajikistan, many of whom are active in agriculture and livestock. The institution operates in remote areas where traditional banks are not present. For many entrepreneurs, Furuz is the first place where they can apply for a formal loan.
Farmers use their loans to invest in seeds, irrigation, or better care for their crops. This increases productivity and reduces the risk of harvest losses. More than one-third of all Furuz loans go to the agricultural sector.
With your investment in this project, about 90 farmers like Ikromov can strengthen their businesses and contribute to a more resilient rural economy in Tajikistan.

Impact
In Tajikistan, a severe shortage of local jobs forces many to seek work abroad, leading to significant economic and social challenges. Over half of the country’s GDP comes from remittances sent by emigrated Tajiks, who often work in unstable jobs. This highlights the urgent need for sustainable local employment to stabilize and grow the economy.
Microfinance institution Furuz contributes to the solution by supporting small entrepreneurs, mainly farmers. These microloans enable them to create local jobs. Furuz’s efforts demonstrate the powerful role of microfinancing in stimulating economic growth and promoting gender equality in Tajikistan, with approximately 35% of their borrowers being women.
