In the outskirts of Piura, in northern Peru, Fabiola runs her own neighborhood shop from her home. Together with other women from the area, she participates in a group loan provided by the cooperative Santa Isabel. Within such a group loan, the women jointly guarantee repayment of the loan. The project

Fabiola owns a neighborhood shop in Piura, a city in northern Peru. Thanks to a group loan from Santa Isabel, she can invest in her store, expand her product range, and increase her income. As a cooperative, Santa Isabel mainly provides group loans to women entrepreneurs. More than 90 percent of its loans consist of this type of financing. The group loan system is based on mutual trust and solidarity among neighbors.

Fabiola is the group leader of her group. In this role, she brings together four to eighteen women from her immediate surroundings who jointly take out a loan. The group meets every two weeks to discuss progress and exchange experiences. It is Fabiola’s task to motivate the women to attend the meetings. She hosts the group at her home and supports the other group members where needed.

Many women in Fabiola’s group run their own shops in the city. Like her fellow group members, Fabiola hopes to further expand her store and increase her income with the loan, enabling her to better care for her family.

Through Santa Isabel, you invest in women who share responsibility and help one another move forward.

As a non-profit cooperative, Santa Isabel focuses on financial inclusion in communities with limited access to traditional banking services. In addition to loans, entrepreneurs receive financial education and guidance in money management, helping them grow their businesses in a sustainable way.

With 34 branches in often remote regions, Santa Isabel reaches entrepreneurs who would otherwise have no access to external financing. This is especially important for women, who often lack the financial resources to expand their businesses. With a loan, they can purchase additional inventory and invest in better equipment, increasing their income opportunities.

Beyond financing, Santa Isabel provides practical support. Members can participate in savings programs and group insurance plans, giving them greater financial security. By combining access to credit with long-term financial resilience, Santa Isabel empowers entrepreneurs not just in the short term, but also in building a more stable future.
