The project

Ana Valeria grew up in Malacatoya, Nicaragua, where she learned farming from her parents. Today, she runs a 90-hectare rice plantation and employs ten people.

With a loan from Micredito, a microfinance institution that supports female entrepreneurs and smallholder farmers in Nicaragua, she invested in fertilizers to increase her production. She also opened a pharmacy and a motorcycle workshop as additional sources of income. This allows her to support her parents while continuing to build her future.

Will you give entrepreneurs like Ana Valeria the opportunity to grow their businesses and create economic opportunities for themselves and their communities?

Lives improved

MiCrédito is a microfinance institution in Nicaragua with a strong social mission. The organization primarily focuses on female entrepreneurs, small-scale farmers, and self-employed individuals in rural areas.

Access to financing remains very limited in Nicaragua, especially for low-income agricultural workers and small business owners. Only a small portion of the population can borrow from formal financial institutions or has access to a savings account. MiCrédito addresses this gap by specifically targeting the most vulnerable groups in society.

Through its accessible financial services, MiCrédito has created meaningful social impact and helped improve the quality of life for many families in Nicaragua.
