Summary

Merlita Sarmiento also known as Mayet from Nagcarlan, Laguna, is a mother of four kids, and is married to Reynaldo. Mayet and spouse were both college graduate and were employees at first but they saw the potential in jewelry making. Since Reynaldo was exposed and influenced by his parents they started their business in November 1991, and named it next to their name, “Rey & Mayet Goldsmith”. They have their shop in Nagcarlan to display their jewelry product, and also makes college ring for graduates. 

At present, they have two male and three female workers. Aside from the compensation, their workers also receive meal allowance and bonuses. To support the community, they provide budget to feeding program to their municipality semi-annually. 

Together with Lendahand’s partner NPFC is helping Merlita Sarmiento in acquiring additional working capital to expand its jewelry business and will be able to hire 2 more workers.
