GSB Capital 34
Mongolia’s economy and agricultural sector are gradually recovering after two years of harsh winters. Many entrepreneurs are eager to take part in this growth and build more stability, but they need access to finance to do so. GSB Capital supports these entrepreneurs with financing when it matters most.

The project
Across Mongolia, entrepreneurs are working hard to expand their businesses and secure a stable income for themselves and their employees. Recent World Bank studies show that the economy offers new opportunities, after several years of harsh winters that took their toll on agriculture and exports. Affordable financing is essential for many small businesses to turn these opportunities into growth, and that’s exactly what GSB Capital provides.
With accessible loans, GSB Capital enables entrepreneurs to invest in what really matters: buying land, setting up workshops or small factories, and sourcing local raw materials. For many, this marks a turning point, allowing them to grow their business and create new jobs.
Agriculture and small businesses are especially important, particularly outside the cities. Flexible financing helps entrepreneurs build resilience and adapt to changing circumstances.
Will you help ensure that entrepreneurs in Mongolia have the financing they need to continue building their future?

Impact
In Mongolia, small and medium-sized enterprises face significant challenges due to stringent banking requirements and a need for more government support. This makes it difficult for entrepreneurs to grow and create jobs. At the same time, the country struggles with severe air pollution, particularly in Ulaanbaatar, where over 200,000 households burn coal to heat their homes. According to a 2019 study by the Asian Development Bank, approximately 80% of the air pollution in the capital is due to this practice.
GSB Capital addresses these issues holistically. On one hand, it offers fast business loans to underserved SME entrepreneurs, enabling them to grow and contribute to the local economy. On the other hand, GSB Capital invests in a green loan program that promotes environmentally friendly heating alternatives, reducing reliance on coal and improving air quality. These initiatives not only foster economic growth but also make a significant contribution to a cleaner environment.
- 35% of GSB loans support female entrepreneurs, helping them grow their businesses and create jobs
