The project

More than half of the women in Mexico work in the informal sector. Without a contract or social security, an unexpected setback can quickly lead to financial vulnerability. At the same time, taking out a loan to build a formal business is a big step for many women. They often lack a credit history or collateral to secure a loan from a bank.

MásKapital breaks this vicious cycle. Through group loans, women work toward a more stable income. They form a lending group together, each receive an individual loan, and jointly guarantee repayment. This model not only increases access to financing, but also encourages mutual support, knowledge sharing, and trust.

This approach stimulates entrepreneurship and enables further growth. That translates into higher incomes, more employment opportunities, and a stronger economic position for women.

Will you contribute to the financial security of women in Mexico? Every investment gives a woman the chance to shape her own future.

Lives improved

In Oaxaca, one of the poorest regions of Mexico, 58.4% of the population lives in multidimensional poverty (CONEVAL, 2022). Many families rely on small-scale income-generating activities, such as a home-based kiosk, market stalls, or traditional crafts. Without access to formal financing, it is difficult to grow or stabilize these businesses. Women are especially affected, as they have fewer economic opportunities while also carrying most of the responsibilities at home.

MásKapital addresses this challenge directly. With 100% of their clients being women, they make a clear contribution to gender equality and local entrepreneurship. They provide group loans in which women form small groups and support each other throughout the loan term, while remaining individually responsible for their own loan. This approach makes credit accessible to women who would otherwise be excluded.

With loans starting at 1,000 MXN (about 45 euros), women can start or grow their businesses. This leads to more stable incomes, greater independence, and stronger decision-making power. Every loan is an investment in lasting progress for women and their communities in Oaxaca.
