The project

Research firm 60 Decibels ranks Flow as number 1 out of 53 lenders in East Africa in terms of access to credit for new borrowers.

What does that mean in practice? Almost 95% of Flow's customers did not previously have access to this type of working capital. Not through a bank, not through a microfinance institution (MFI), and not through any other lender. As such, Flow focuses on a group that often falls outside the traditional financial system.

Mobile money agents and small traders play an important role in the economy of many African countries. Every day, they help millions of people send, receive, and withdraw money. At the same time, they often have limited opportunities to obtain working capital.

Flow helps bridge this financing gap. With access to working capital, entrepreneurs can restock their inventory, continue serving customers, and further develop their business. By reaching entrepreneurs who previously had no access to financing, Flow contributes to a more inclusive financial system. Will you support them?

Small kiosk owners and mobile money agents are essential to daily life in both Rwanda and Uganda. They distribute goods and services such as food, household items, farming supplies, and mobile money—especially in rural areas where formal banks are often out of reach. These entrepreneurs are often the first and only point of access to the formal economy, yet many are overlooked by traditional lenders and operate with very limited income.

Flow gives them access to short-term, digital loans tailored to their needs. With this financing, they can keep their businesses running, improve their income, and become more resilient in the face of financial challenges. Flow focuses especially on women, young people, and first-time borrowers—supporting greater economic inclusion and stability where it’s needed most.

  • 98% of customers report earning more since receiving Flow financing
  • 97% feel more financially secure and better able to manage unexpected expenses
  • 42% of female entrepreneurs report greater recognition and influence in their communities
