The project
Temperatures in Kyrgyzstan can rise significantly during the summer. As a result, drought is a common challenge with serious consequences for agriculture. Aida and her husband Saijpek experienced this firsthand. They run a small farm in rural Kyrgyzstan, where ongoing drought made it difficult to harvest enough hay for their animals.
A loan from microfinance institution Bailyk provided a solution. With the loan, the family purchased feed for their livestock. This created financial breathing space and allowed them to continue their activities. They even bought a new ram and restored their grassland, enabling sufficient feed to grow again for their animals.
Bailyk Finance is a microfinance institution focused on strengthening the position of women in Kyrgyzstan. In addition to financing, the organization offers training in financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills. Today, 59% of its clients are women. Entrepreneurs gain access to working capital to grow their businesses and build a stable income, contributing to greater financial independence and economic stability.
With more than 50 branches across both urban and rural areas, Bailyk Finance reaches entrepreneurs in remote regions. This creates economic opportunities for people who would otherwise remain excluded from the formal financial system.

Bailyk Finance is a women-led microfinance institution dedicated to strengthening the position of women in Kyrgyzstan. By providing financial literacy training, entrepreneurial support, and working capital, Bailyk helps female entrepreneurs, who make up 59% of its clients, grow their businesses, support their families, and drive economic stability.
In a country where 32% of the population (about 2 million people) lives on less than €1.60 per day, access to finance is a powerful tool against poverty. It fosters entrepreneurship, creates jobs, reduces emigration, and improves living conditions.
With 51 branches across Kyrgyzstan, Bailyk also serves low-income individuals without access to traditional banks, ensuring economic opportunities reach even the most remote areas.
