Bailyk 27
Ali and Holida grow strawberries in Kyrgyzstan. Prolonged drought put pressure on their harvests. With a loan from Bailyk, they invested in stronger strawberry plants, which improved their yields. As the plants grew stronger, so did their business.

The project
Ali and Holida live in rural Kyrgyzstan. Ali works as a shepherd, but during the harvest season he helps Holida in the fields. Together, they grow strawberries. Prolonged droughts made recent years increasingly difficult. The plants withered and harvests were disappointing.
Through Bailyk, a microfinance institution active in rural areas of Kyrgyzstan, they obtained a loan. Bailyk supports small entrepreneurs with limited access to traditional financing, with a strong focus on women. Not without reason: 45 percent of women in Kyrgyzstan experience limited access to capital as a major barrier to participating in economic activities.
Ali and Holida used their loan to invest in stronger strawberry plants. Successfully so: harvests improved and their income increased. During busy periods, they now hire additional people from their local community to help with picking.
With more than 50 branches across both urban and rural areas, Bailyk supports entrepreneurs in need of financial services. Will you invest in entrepreneurs in Kyrgyzstan and support local business growth and employment?
